Just wondering, why are the dates for the Prospect draft and Free Agency so far in front of the season in Contract Football? I am comparing them to Contract Baseball (I don't play in Hockey or Basketball, so I don't know when they draft) and in baseball we draft prospects 2 months before the season starts and then open Free Agency two weeks later. In Football we draft prospects 5 months before the season with Free Agency 4 months before. I don't have a problem with the early start, just wondering how those differences came to be.
It would seem that we are making it harder on ourselves, as we all like to have as much data as possible to review before making our choices, and we draft prospects before the NFL draft, meaning we don't know what teams they will be on, who is on the roster in front of them, etc. And the Free Agent auctions are similar, not all NFL free agents have signed, recovery from injuries not known, etc.

I've wondered this as well. Contract Hockey and Basketball both mirror how you describe the baseball contract league.

I think it has something to do with the NFL draft. Lions can expound on it more.
