5.2.5 Once the current MLB playing season ends (End of Sept), cap can only be traded for that season to balance a contract acquired in a trade. You cannot trade cap to allow for a buyout of a long term contract. Once this deadline passes the new second season of cap can be traded. ex. 2013 playing season ends, 2015 cap can be traded.
