Hearts sends Flames:
Gustav Nyquist (C/RW/LW - DET) $8.75/3yrs Kyle Turris (C - NASH) $9.25/2yrs Torey Krug (D - BOS) $2/1yr Tristian Jarry (G - PIT) $1/1yr Minor Roster
Flames sends Hearts:
Alex Ovechkin (LW - WAS) $38.75/2yrs 2018 4th rnd pick (Frost Giant)
Nyquist, Turris, and Krugs Contract covered ($20) by Hearts Ovi's Contract covered by Flames ($38.75) or Flames sends Hearts $18.75 in 2017-2018 CAP. (38.75 - 20) = 18.75
Hearts Assessment: Over all I'm sacrificing a lot to try to win now. Ovi adds goal scoring and hits to my line up. The 4th round pick gives me an ability to select (near the bottom of the pile....I'm sure there'll be some scraps to find)
Moving Nyquist and Turris on mid level contracts ... cost to production not what i'd be looking for, essentially I'm unloading these two contracts and picking up Ovi's $42 contract next year. Krug and Jarry are the building blocks for Flames. I'll hope there are some prospects available in the later rounds of the draft / FA that will be able to replace Turris and Nyquist next year (DeBrusk will be promoted) (Hienen continues to improve). (Winning/Leading Division - adds picks)
Inherent Risk taken by trading the last goalie prospect (Matt Murray's back up). I hope Allen & Jones stay healthy and remain the starters.

Blue Flames agrees to this trade. Given the Crosby and Seguin trades, I see this as a fair return. I needed the Ovi contract gone for next year, too much invested in one player for a team that's placed where mine is. I was chasing a first and second. If I went into a draft and in the first 2 rounds came away with players like Krugg and Jarry, I would be thrilled.
These 2 are building blocks for my team for the future. Turris and Nyquist are necessary moves to make both parties cap work.
Room has been made for incoming players through waivers.
