Sorry Stark, but it is a rule. Rule 7.2.4.3: When the auction is over, the auction winner must declare the player’s contract length. If no declaration is made within twenty-four (24) hours, the contract will be assigned a one (1) year term. A GM cannot add a player to their active roster until contract details have been assigned.
