We have had 17 players called up to the majors so far this season, and that struck me as being more than usual, so I took a look.
In our previous seasons, we have never had more than 8 players promoted by May 18th (today).
And going back to to 2019 and earlier we usually had about 4. In 2019 we only had 11 promotions for the entire year!
I think that this is a combination of how good the prospects have been in MLB lately, our own better drafting, and a greater willingness to bring guys up rather than stash them.
