I would like to change the rule that keeps players whose contracts have ended from being released. At present the only way to get a player in the last year of a contract off your roster is to buy them out, which cannot happen once the season has ended, as they are a 1 year contract at that point. So my proposal is that:
All players on 1 year contracts may be bought out after the end of the MLB season for the full value of their contract.
I see no Cap value advantage to any GM from this, they do not gain space to make other moves. Nor will it allow for them to have extra roster spots when it comes time to rollover to the new season, as it remains the same 30 maximum. But it does clear space on their roster to allow for promotions to occur during the off-season, a situation that has caused a fair amount of difficulty from time to time and to me, seems pointless.
I am interested to hear if I have missed some aspect of this, so please respond with differing views if you have them.

I don't see any value having to buyout a player just to promote during the draft considering 3 days later is basically when sheets roll over. I could be missing something in the whole process tho
