The rule currently reads:
5.5.2.5 A team cannot re-sign their bought out players, regardless of season completion, unless they have been signed and bought out by another team.
I would like to change it to:
5.5.2.5 A team cannot re-sign their bought out players for a lower price, regardless of season completion, unless they have been signed and bought out by another team.
My reasoning is that the goal of this rule is to avoid having a team buyout a player having a bad year with, for example, a $20 contract, gaining $10 in Cap space, and then re-sign that player for $3.00.
With my tweak it allows for the situation where you sign a journeyman player early in the year for $1.00, buy him out in May when you call up a prospect at that position, and then have an injury at that position in July. You should be able to re-sign that player, as long as it costs the same or more. If you resign that player at $1.00, he actually has cost you $1.50 for the year, so your buyout did "cost" you.

I like that idea but I feel if you buyout a player you can't resign him that same year at all. But the next year that player becomes free game for everyone unless obviously already on a roster.
