I have a new idea to increase our Free Agent pool, but it will only help here in Football. And it is simple and doesn't mess up anything that we have done up 'til now.
What if we moved our Prospect draft after the NFL draft, and made anyone drafted by the NFL ineligible for our Prospect draft?
A quick look through this year's Prospect Draft, and I saw 8 RBs, 8 WRs, and 4TE who were NFL drafted and would have drawn some reasonable Free Agent interest.
I understand that this will deplete the guys available to draft, and we will be throwing more darts and hoping to hit something in the late rounds of our Prospect Draft (basically one round's worth), but I think that is less of a problem than what we have now in Free Agency.

I don’t mind this - helps add a few decent free agents!

I like that it would also allow us to promote those who were drafted to open up more spots on minor league roster before the draft.

I don't have a problem with this but think we should consider players with a letter of intent to open up more draft options.
