We’re a long way from the off-season and the minor league draft, but nonetheless here are some details on the basketball contract minor league draft.
1. The minor league draft will start on the third Sunday in August, every year.
2. The minor league draft will be conducted as a slow draft. It will be held through the forums on the AML website.
3. All GMs have four (4) draft picks each year.
4. If a GM does not need all four (4) draft picks, he may trade them away or let them remain unused.
5. If a GM needs more than four (4) draft picks, he may acquire more from other GMs or proceed with his picks and begin the season with a short minor league roster.
6. If a GM has a full minor league roster, he cannot make a draft pick until he releases a player from his active roster. For example a GM drafts player #12 in round 3 and now has a full minor league roster. That GM cannot use its next pick in round 4 unless they first release a player to make room for the draft pick. GM’s cannot draft over the max limit and then release players following the draft.
7. Unused draft picks cannot be carried over
As always, the draft order will be determined the the reverse order of the standings. If you have any more questions feel free to find me in the AML chat area or send me a PM.
