Just a reminder to everyone that the Trade deadline for this season is this Sunday (August 16th, 2015) at 11:59pm EST.
Here are the rules around the trade deadline just so everyone is clear:
1. Trades must be completed and accepted by both teams before the deadline passes. Any deals that have been posted but were not accepted by the deadline will be null and void. If for some reason there is an error in your deal (not enough cap, not enough roster spots etc) and the processors find this out after the deadline the deal will not go through and you cannot renegotiate it. All this to say get your deals done earlier and correctly. Transaction processors and myself will be on that evening to verify deals so things should run smoothly. It is rare that there is ever an error in a deal but just wanted to make that clear.
2. Free Agents: You must start a free agent auction prior to the trade deadline. This does not mean you have to have won the auction by that time, nor does it prevent teams from bidding on that player. Simply put all Free Agent auctions must start prior to the trade deadline. Any starter after that time will be null and void.
3. Waivers: Once the trade deadline passes waivers are officially closed. This means that you cannot claim anyone on waivers from another team and that you cannot place another player on your active roster there either. The only thing you can do is if you have an open roster spot (as a result of an injury (60 day DL), a buyout, or just a free space) you may recall a player from your waivers list.
4. Buyouts: Buyouts continue to occur after the trade deadline. This is business as usual.
Finally I just want to remind everyone, since we have some new faces, that last year we voted to do away with the 1 year buyout in the off season. What this means for this year is that for non playoff teams if you are planning on buying out a 1 year player to add cap space you must do so before the last game of your regular season. Once your final match up is completed you will not be able to buy anyone on a 1 year deal. Playoff teams you have until the end of your final playoff match up to perform this buyout. Once your season is over so is your ability to buyout 1 year guys. Playoff teams please note this does not apply to the playoff match up that eliminates you from championship contention but your final match up as their are still consolation round to determine draft seeding after that point.
Any questions please post below and I will clarify them ASAP.
