Dear League,
Here is the annual reminder of the rules for this year's draft:
Rookies eligible to be drafted must not have met or exceeded the rookie threshold of 130 ABs or 50 IP in the major leagues.
International free agents aged 25 and over are not eligible to be drafted in the prospect draft. International free agents are defined as players who have never been drafted and/or signed by an MLB team. The date for the age cutoff (25) will be the date of selection for the prospect draft.
Eligible players must have been drafted and/or signed by an MLB club. They must be in an MLB organization. No college eligible player can be drafted.
Managers will have 6 hours to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you know in advance you will not be able to make your selection prior to the time expiring or you anticipate you will away when your pick might come up, you are required to submit an ordered list to the commissioner or co-commisioner if you wish to avoid penalty. We have had issues in the past with managers not making their picks on time. This affects the entire league as it holds up the draft for everyone and thus needs to be prevented. The following penalties will be enforced should managers fail to make their selection: 1st offense = Warning, 2nd offense = forfeit of missed selection, 3rd offense = Forfeit of all remaining picks and possible removal from the league.
If a manager trades a pick while on the clock, the clock for the pick does not reset. The clock starts the minute the previous selection is made. If you are trading your picks in 2020, please also list the pick numbers in the trade so it is clear for the processors which picks are being traded. Also trades involving on the clock picks must be approved by one of the processors before the selection is made so we know its a legit deal.
Each night the clock will stop at 12:00 AM and will resume at 8:00AM. This means that if you have 2 hours left on your clock by 12:00 AM, you will have until 10:00 AM in the morning to make your selection. This is the only time the clock will stop.
If your rookie bank is full, you must call up a prospect or drop a prospect either before or at the same time when making your selection. Rookies drafted this draft count towards your rookie bank even if they have not yet added to the sheet. This means that if you have 5 open spots going into the draft and have already made 5 selections, you must drop someone or call up a prospect at or before making your next selection otherwise you will incur penalties. If a manager is found to have violated this, there will be a penalty. You will forfeit the selection and the player will be returned to the draft.
If you have any questions or if something is unclear, please let me know and ill do my best to answer them.
Good luck and happy drafting!
