ANALYSIS
Sale was expected to miss the first several months of the 2021 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in March of 2020, so his placement on the injured list is simply procedural and will clear up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander John Schreiber, who was claimed off waivers. Sale experienced some neck stiffness in early February but remains on track in his recovery from Tommy John surgery.
