I'll try to keep this sort and sweet. I haven't made goalie starts a few times this year. Goalies are being hoarded and will only be sold for a king's ransom. You managers know who you are if I have asked for one in a trade from you and I don't blame you as the rules incentivize holding as many goalies as you can. Here's some things I think should be changed:
1. Reduce goalie starts to 2. In a 16 team league i think this makes sense, especially when some teams have 3 or 4 starting goalies and some have arguably 0-1 starters and a bunch of backups (not just my team look at some of the rosters around the league)
2. Have a maximum number of goalies a manager can carry on both major league and minor league rosters
This is a competitive balance issue so i'd expect the manager with goalies will disagree with me but please see these suggestions as improving the health of the league as right now there's an inbalance that's tough to correct.

Respectfully have to disagree, many of us have had to pay a king's ransom in order to be set up like this in order to succeed and meet the demands of the league. So now because you won't pay a price as we all did you feel the rules should be changed to make it easier for others to compete. This would be the same kind of idea as removing a D position because a manager can't get enough talented D men.
Bowe is a prime example of this needing to make a deal for a goalie in order to make his starts, a deal I'm sure he didn't want to make

I also disagree with changing any rules related to goalies. I have three starting goalies and will miss goalie starts for a second week in a row.... but that’s Covid and I don’t want one year to change the landscape of the league. Going from 3-2 starts makes goalies not worth much at all.

It is certainly a tough spot. Not only do we have to manage our team from a contract perspective...those NHL teams make crazy trades that affect all aspects of our planning. I've gone from 3 starters to likely a time share with all three. If not to 1 starter and 2 back ups. They also are not performing which makes it difficult to win goalie stats unless i get the lucky gift of my opponent failing to get 3 starts. Spend draft capital on a couple goalies and maybe you get one to pay off. I've certainly had my hands on a couple that i traded away...they would certainly have made my decisions on who to staff and how many to staff on my franchise a lot harder if i had not made those trades. Good goalies are expensive esp. if they come via FA.
I'm in support of keeping the Goalie starts at 3. 2 starts makes it too easy to roster 1 goalie on you entire team. I could be talked into limiting the number of goalies on a majors roster to 4 non injured goalies.

My preference is to leave rosters as is (even though my goalies are not good). Teams have made transactions/drafting choices based on the existing rule structure. It would be unfair to the teams that have invested to get good goaltenders through trade or high draft picks to now make goalies less valuable by reducing starts. We all know how useful a good goalie can be, but teams have different strategies (pay up for top notch goalies vs platoon backups for example). Both are valid ways to approach the problem in my opinion. If a team has no useful goal-tending then it behoves them to address the issue through trades, drafting strategy or win all the non goalie categories.
On the topic of limiting goaltenders on minor league rosters I am not a fan because I feel we should let each owner pursue whatever strategy they think will make their team most competitive.

Unfortunately, while I agree that the goalie situation is ridiculous and GMs expect way too much in exchange for a goalie, we are stuck with this setup.
It has been in place for years and we've all been overpaying for years. To change the rules now would be unfair. I overpaid for Lukas Dostal this season as the latest example in a long line for my franchise, as I know pretty much all of you can relate to.
Changing rules now would change historical decisions from "understandable" to "what the heck was I thinking" real quick.
