I would like to propese that the period where a player can not be put on waivers changed from the trade deadline to the end of FA.
First off it makes no sense that FA is open but players can not be put on waiver.
Secondly this rule really only affect playoff teams and why should a team in the playoffs be forced to buy out good players only to have non playoff teams the chance to sign them at huge discounts. It's not like a team that is not playing for a playoff spot would bother buying out good players.
Feel free to add your thaughts

I think FA and waivers should just be open all season including the playoffs.

I agree that waivers should at least be open until the end of FA. It really doesn't make sense to allow a player to be signed through FA, and not be able to make a corresponding move to open a spot, without a buyout.
I would ultimately like to see waivers stay open all year though.
Let me give the current scenario on why this is such a hindrance. I'm FIGHTING for a playoff spot. I have Hronek just of IR. and Muzzin has not been put on IR ( even though he is known to be out for many weeks). That means I have to buy someone out. Then once Muzzin goes on IR, I have no way to replace him as a D. The player I will most likely have to buyout is a D. Makes it so I don't even really want to try anymore. I make sure I have players to cover, I just can't use them when it counts the most.

With playoffs coming up did this suggestion get any traction or thought? What is the outcome of these suggestions? Votes once there is a few ideas or just talk?
